Björknäs

Three apartment blocks were completed during 2019 in Nacka, close to Värmdöleden. The buildings consist of 25 apartments in total, 6 of them are specially adapted to the disabled. The size of the apartments are between 35-70 sqm. We chose to connect the buildings with noise protection screens in glass, shaped as the building gables, towards the road in the south. That way the courtyards get a lot of sunlight at the same time as they are protected from wind and noise. Trees, hedges and bushes are planted around the buildings to diffuse the boarder between the new additions and the existing vegetation.

Our choice of colour is inspired by old wooden villas at Djurgården, and to make the buildings blend in with the surrounding greenery. Our goal in this project was to create high quality dwellings with well-placed investments.

The area has no Detailed Development Plan which makes it important to carefully balance the new building volumes with the existing. In this case the size and placement of the balconies play an important role to moderate the size impression of the buildings.
